Kupu Whakataki

Ahurei 2019

Te Tapuwaetahi o Rangitāne, what an amazing kaupapa! We are truly grateful for the opportunity to come together as Rangitāne to network and share our history, our present, and our future aspirations as an iwi. The event wouldn’t have been as successful if not for the whānau who were in attendance right from our kaumātua down to our mokopuna. Please keep an eye out for Te Kōpara, for a more in depth look at some of the amazing things that took place during Ahurei 2019. The dedication of the organizing committee was apparent so we wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the hosting rohe, Tamaki nui a Rua, for all of their amazing work.

We also wish to thank our photographers, Taimana Karaitiana-Baker(6), Tāwhaki Robens-Cribb(6), Wiremu Te Tau(16), Destiny-Rose Cocks (18), Jasmine Robens, and Michael Kawana Jnr.

Feedback from our Uri

“First of all I just want to thank Tamaki-Nui-A-Rua for hosting us. The things I liked about the ahurei was one, the environment and the wairua between everyone was amazing! The kōrero that koro Manahi gave us really interested me. The sports were amazing and the kapa haka was a really good idea, but most of all I loved the whakawhanaungatanga it had”.

Awesome venue and awesome pakeke and tamariki participation from pony rides, bouncy castle, and truck rides to ki ō rahi, touch, mixed age relays and wharewhare. All age groups were catered for, kei runga noa atu!

Kōrerorero (last day) Overall loved all the kōrero, braking up in to our rōpū and the feed back – i rite te nuinga o ngā kōrero!! Ka pai!! Sounds like we have our mātua and pakeke sorted, now lets get on to our next gen!! Loved their two huge pages of whakaaro…lets get their dreams and bring them to life.

“I had an especially wonderful stay in Pahiatua, we were well looked after and I enjoyed the awards evening. These awards not only raise awareness of some of the many sports and leadership successes, they also help inspire our mokopuna to set goals, work hard, and achieve”.
