There are currently seven Trustees for the Trust.

Jason has a background in commerce and local government, and has previously worked as the Rangitāne o Wairarapa Incorporated CEO. He is currently also one of two Rangitāne o Wairarapa trustees on the Rangitāne Settlement Negotiations Trust.

Rangitāne

Edward has held several corporate and governance roles in public unlisted and private companies and is currently an executive member of the Rangitāne o Tamaki nui-ā-Rua Incorporated Society.  He brings strong governance and also business experience having held the role of in-house counsel, owned and operated several businesses, and practised as a solicitor providing corporate, tax and commercial advice primarily in relation to fundraising and mergers and acquisitions.

Warwick has acted as an accountant for 12 years, prior to this he was in the RNZAF.  He has been involved with a number of organisations where governance has been a corner stone to their makeup. He currently is also on the Board’s for Tu Mai Ra Investments LP, Oringi Waiaruhe Trust and Tangoio 27A Trust.

Rangitāne Tū Mai Rā Trust is the post settlement governance entity for Rangitāne o Wairarapa and Rangitāne o Tamaki nui-ā-Rua (“Rangitāne”). It was established in March 2014 to receive and administer settlement assets from the Crown to Rangitāne to settle our historic grievances arising from breaches of the Treaty of Waitangi. Rangitāne Tū Mai Rā is a private, or common law, trust. Its name was inspired by the Rangitāne anthem Tū Mai Rā.  Rangitāne Tū Mai Rā is accountable to all beneficiaries of Rangitāne.

The first elections of trustees for the Rangitāne Tū Mai Rā Trust were to be completed by 28 March 2016.  Five nominations were received.  The five Trustees appointed were:

  • Mavis Mullins;
  • Jason Kerehi;
  • Warwick Gernhoefer;
  • Edward Pearse; and
  • Yvette Grace.

Two further trustees, Taylor Mihaere and Mahalia Paewai, were co-opted in May 2017 to assist the Trust.  For more information about Rangitāne Tū Mai Rā please see the following information document:
