New GM announced to strengthen momentum at Rangitāne
The Rangitāne Tū Mai Rā Trust Board is delighted to announce their appointment of former MP, Jo Hayes (Rangitāne o Wairarapa), as the new General Manager.
Jo has a strong connection to both Wairarapa and Tamaki Nui ā Rua which are the areas that her role will cover.
“The greatest task for her is to continue to bring the Iwi together and lift our potential, which we believe she has the potential to deliver” – Jason Kerehi Board Chair.
She comes with extensive experience working with Iwi in the health and tertiary education sectors having managed her own consultancy business in health, education, research and business management before entering Parliament on 22 January 2014 and becoming a member of the 50th, 51st and 52nd Parliaments. She was the spokesperson for Whānau Ora and Māori Development until she left parliament.
“Jo is a highly competent manager experienced in growing teams, a critical thinker who is able to visualize outcomes and seize opportunities that will benefit the future vision of Rangitāne” says Jason Kerehi.
“I look forward to returning home with my skills and experience and bringing my unique political background in working with government, government agencies, NGOs, private businesses, Iwi, Hapū and Whānau”
“I’m enthusiastic and excited about joining the Rangitāne Tū Mai Rā Trust whānau and to further contribute to the success and aspirations of our whānau”.
Jo’s skills include leading and managing high performing teams and projects within some of the most challenging, diverse, and high-pressure environments. She honed her political abilities dealing with members of parliament and their respective ministries from both sides of the house relative to policy and funding opportunities.
“The Trust will benefit immensely from her broad range of networks locally, nationally, and internationally. She is a real people person, and we are excited to see her work for our people” says Jason Kerehi.
“I plan to bring home a wealth of managerial and executive management expertise that will enhance the momentum of operations Rangitāne already have in place, I cannot wait to get started”
Jo plans to buy a house here to be near her mother, Kate Apanui once she has settled into her new role.
